This Is Not a Government or Law Enforcement Office. We run a private reference site. We cannot confirm that a warrant exists, recall or clear one, post bond, arrange a surrender, or give legal advice to anyone. For any of those, reach the issuing court or the sheriff's office directly.
Need Official Warrant Information?
Here is where the common Mecosta County requests go, with the office that holds each answer:
- Traffic, ordinance, misdemeanor, or a missed district court date: 77th District Court, criminal and traffic desk, 400 Elm Street, Room 118, Big Rapids, (231) 592-0794; civil matters use (231) 592-0796
- Felony or circuit case status: 49th Circuit Court, 400 Elm Street, Room 105, Big Rapids, (231) 592-0780. The 49th Circuit serves both Mecosta and Osceola counties, so confirm the county on the case
- Circuit filings, certified copies, and court fees: Mecosta County Clerk, 400 Elm Street, Big Rapids, (231) 592-0783
- Support enforcement and show-cause matters: Friend of the Court, 400 Elm Street, Room 205, (231) 592-0115, with a 24-hour information line at 1-877-543-2660
- Custody questions and law enforcement service questions a court directs: Mecosta County Sheriff, 225 S Stewart Street, Big Rapids, (231) 592-0150; the jail line, (231) 592-0156, is answered 24 hours
- Resolving or clearing a warrant: talk with a licensed Michigan attorney and the issuing court about a voluntary appearance, a recall, or posting bond
The sheriff's office publishes no warrant unit, no public warrant list, and no warrant counter hours, so a warrant status question belongs with the court that issued the order. The jail line answers custody and intake questions at any hour, but jail staff cannot recall a court warrant or decide a case.
For a records request, use the agency that created the record: the county FOIA coordinator for county administrative records, the sheriff's FOIA address for eligible sheriff records, the city of Big Rapids FOIA process for city police records, and the court clerk for anything filed in a case. Court records follow the Michigan court rules rather than the public records law.
